Too many hard working online marketers spend a ton of money on list building. I know this personally, because my company helps over 14300 marketers online promote their offers, and 95% of those clients focus mainly on ‘building their lists’. (A very good thing indeed)
But here’s the thing…
About one third of those marketers have a hard time monetizing on the lists that they’ve built.
I hear it all the time. “My list is not responsive anymore!”. “I don’t have the time to email my list”….etc.
Here are couple of things to keep in mind on List Building.
1. Expose Yourself.
Your personal voice drives your list’s success.
Think you don’t have the right personality to connect with your subscribers? Think again. I am basically an introvert. My friends, subscribers, and clients know that about me. But, that doesn’t mean that I can’t bring value to the marketplace.
Think you don’t have anything to share with your subscribers? Think again. There are literally millions of people who don’t know as much as you do in your field. And you could be teaching them something everyday that’ll change their lives forever.
2. Keep A Mailing Schedule.
Most online marketers who complain about their lists NOT being responsive have one thing in common. They feel that they don’t have anything to give that’s of real value.
As a result of this feeling, many marketers only communicate with their subscribers when they have something to sell.
You have plenty to give. You could be talking about what you learned this week, which can be very valuable to your readers.
To avoid this, make a mailing schedule and keep up with it. Make it a point to write to your subscribers at least 3 to 4 times a week.
Monday – Content driven email
Tuesday – Survey to your subscribers
Wednesday – Hard sell email
Thursday – Recommend a tip or another helpful service
Friday – Personal email about your experience this week
3. Tie In Social Media Platforms To Your Email Communication
On every piece of communication link your social media pages to it so that people can further relate to you. Update your social media pages and use plug-ins that’s available on these platforms to your advantage. (Here’s mine)
Social media websites like Facebook has immense potential to connect with your readers. The Facebook ‘fan page’ feature alone is a great tool to further connect with your future clients. Use it.
If your mailing list is not responsive as you may have hoped for, try practicing these three tips for a month or so. You’ll see a major shift in your marketing and online revenue.

If you are not using a list building platform that allows you to segment your lists, you are missing out on valuable opportunities to connect with your subscribers on their turf. For Example: Let’s say that you have a main mailing list comprising of hot leads. As these leads turn into paying clients, you must move them to a separate customer list. This allows you to communicate to your actual customers in a different way. Example: Offer your paying customers high ticket items…etc.
If you are not able to segment your lists with your current list management company, then you should take a look at http://iMediaMarketingTools.com list building platform.
