Internet marketers are more frequently using interstitial ads to promote their products and services. But why?
As you know, interstitial ads are a great way to reach your audience, as they force visitors to become exposed to the offer before they can continue on their way through a website. They are full page ads, placed between two pages of a website—the internet equivalent of television commercials.

Unlike traditional banner and text ads that only take up modest space on a web page, interstitial ads practically demand your visitor’s attention!
Now, that’s not to say that interstitial ads don’t have their drawbacks. Interstitial ads can be unwelcome interruptions to visitors who are trying to navigate a website, or irritate webmasters who lose traffic due to intrusive interstitial ads. Tactfully applied however, interstitial ads can convert more effectively than banner, text and pop up ads.
There are a few online advertising agencies that offer interstitial advertising to the public. Placement fees often apply, and they are almost always pay-per-impression.
Pay-per-click interstitial ads may become available in the near future, which would be a welcome change from heavy placement and maintenance fees.
Interstitial ads are best paired with one time offers, free gifts, and other free offers. These types of offers convert much higher than just a photo of your product or description of your service, and since interstitial ads are full page advertisements, they best convey the urgency and importance of your ad.
After all, the visitor is being asked to confirm that they would like to skip the ad to go through to the website content—it must be important!
