It’s a known fact that search engines are excellent source of highly targeted traffic. People who end up on your website via search engines are easily engaged right from the start and ready to listen to what you have to say.
Here is a tactic we use to drive thousands of extra visitors to our main service websites month after month. I call it “Funneling targeted traffic using keyword domains”.
I am not going to reveal the ‘hundreds of domains’ we use to drive traffic to our main company site – that would be counter-productive. But, you can use this basic idea for your business website.
No, it’s not a secret. Many people know about this, but they just don’t take the time or willing to spend some money to set it up. Marketers who are using this tactic will not tell you that they are.
Let’s say, that you have a ‘carpet cleaning business’, and, you weren’t so lucky to get the domain name CarpetCleaning.com. Let’s say, For branding reasons your main website domain is HustonCarpetCleaning.com.
Now consider search engine users. They might type in the keywords…
dry carpet cleaning
carpet cleaning machines
carpet steam cleaning
carpet cleaning professional
If you had domain names with those keywords, with valid contents and link, to your main company you would be getting tons of traffic to your company website.
DryCarpetCleaning.com
CarpetCleaningMachines.com
CarpetSteamCleaning.com
CarpetCleaningProfessional.com …etc.
Another great research tool to find high traffic keywords addressing your markets key questions would be….
Domain names like…
WhatKindOfCarpetCleaningShouldIChoose.com
WhoAreTheBestCarpetCleaningCompany.com

These are the question people are asking on Yahoo Answers. If you had these domain names, you would be funneling traffic to you main site.
Why do I talk about this? Because one way to get more search engine traffic is to build many of what I call ‘keyword domain’ websites for specific keyword phrase/search queries. All of these slave websites could be designed as pointers to funnel traffic to your master site. Alternatively, they could be used as a stand-alone site to build exposure and accumulate leads for your business
It may be a little time consuming and may even cost you few hundred dollars to set it up but the traffic you attract should pay for it and more – for a long time to come.
Spend ample time to research the keywords, it’ll be worth it.

Key word domains are the number one requirement in any field. I have always found them to be so easy to rank for on the search engines.
Great article. I started implementing these steps a few months and they work well. What do you think about redirecting the domains to your main site? Would that work as well or is it better to actually setup a site and link to your main site?
