Prediction #1. More regulations coming our way..
And coming down the tracks is likely an Internet wide sales tax in the US. If the shopping cart systems are thinking of preparing for a huge change then it’s more than likely coming down the line.
This will open up more opportunities for us to give more focus Internationally.
Guess how many International Internet users are there in 2011?

That’s 6 Billion with a “B”! That doesn’t look like gloom and doom.. does it?
Prediction #2. Mobile technology advances and will be a requirement for many markets.
Actually building a mobile friendly website is much easier than a regular website. And it’s getting easier and easier to build your presence in the mobile medium.
You’ll need both types of platform to do business virtually.
Prediction #3. Free traffic becomes harder to get.
Unless you are positioned with unique and interesting content related to your specific products, it’s going to be hard to drive free traffic.
Every medium starts off with free and then progresses into paid. For example: Do you see any free traffic in the offline mediums? I don’t think so…
It costs money to do business offline and it will be the same online.
Prediction #4. Affiliate Marketing gets serious.
Market research firm Forrester predicts that retailers will spend $4 billion on affiliate marketing by 2014. That’s 16 percent growth each year!
With that being said, affiliate marketers have to be prepared for it and position themselves now. Companies with affiliate programs will get choosy in selecting their affiliates.
How can you position yourself in the Affiliate Marketing Industry?
- Treat your business like a real business. Register for a real business.
- Branding becomes crucial. Start putting your brand out there.
- Occupy more real estate online. Each unique content page you put out there is valuable virtual real estate for your business.
- Stand out by being unique. Not by becoming like another guru in your marketplace.
- Be consistent and disciplined. Do anything consistently, and you’ll be surprised by the results.
Prediction #5. Small ticket digital products + connections = volume sales.
Plug in to where your buyers are flocking to.
Selling low ticket information products and apps ($0.99 cents up to $4.99) on Amazon Kindle or the app store can generate great front end customers.
So long as you are setup for follow up and consistent promotions to your existing lists, these customers can become your best customers.
So, there’s my prediction for 2012.
