This is Official! This is EXCITING! This FEELS GOOD!

We have the $10,000 WINNER and she hails from Brownsburg, Indiana! - Sorry about the confusion this morning.

I am so happy for Maryanne! She is one of our oldest customers and a marketer online for years!

Her name is “Maryann Myers” from www.webstars2k.com.

How does it feel to wake up and be $10,000 richer on a snowy day in Indiana? Yes, that’s exactly what happened!

Maryanne, I hope you have a wonderful Christmas and a very prospourus New Year! ENJOY!

I’ll be posting pics of the ‘Moment Of Surprise’ in a little while…

WE HAVE THE $10,000 WINNER!

BUT, we want this to be a SURPRISE for this lucky person! So, I’ve decided to show up at his/her home to meet and wish a Merry Christmas myself. I am planning to be at his/her door-step tomorrow, Dec 5th, 2007 - (ie. if I can get a plane ticket to fly out tonight)

We’ll be announcing the identity of the winner, including Pictures of me handing the $10,000 check tomorrow! I’ll be posting pictures of my journey to ________ in this BLOG, so look out for more updates from me.

P.S. I am calling my Travel Agent who’s been patiently waiting to book my plane tickets. I hope I can fly out today! Pease post your comments below…

A very excited Kristin With The $10,000 Check!

Here is a picture of a ‘Very Excited Kristin’, with the $10,000
Check - ready to put a name on it - but she’ll have to wait till tomorrow when we pick the winner!

I need to tell you something very important…

“”"THANK YOU!”"”

If you are on my list, thank you for being a part of my business.

If you are one of lucky few who qualified for our $10,000 BWL Affiliate Contest, Thank You for your help in promoting our services!

One thing’s for sure…

Out of the 30 something qualified Affiliates, we’ll be picking ONE $10,000 winner tomorrow at noon (EST).

Yes, there will ONLY be one $10,000 Winner - BUT…

As a gesture of gratitude, I am extending 3 months of free BWL paid membership to every one in the contest pool!

Good Luck to all in the Contest Pool!

This $10,000 Affiliate Contest is Kicking My A_ _

This Affiliate contest is kicking my A _  _ . I am excited and have this ‘nervous  energy’ around me.

Of course I am happy for the lucky to-be  winner, but at the same time…

…It’s stirring up all kinds of  emotions inside of me - thinking of how  the $10,000 is going to make someone’s  Christmas a bit more rewarding and  hopefully a memorable experience for the  winner’s family!

Listen carefully…

We’ve decided that we’re gonna go a step  further and ’show up at the Lucky  person’s door-step’ - instead of just  sending a $10,000 check!

To make this a reality, and to get the  NEXT FLIGHT OUT to ‘where ever it may  be’, we have to pick the WINNER tomorrow  Dec 4th, at 12:00 NOON instead of 12:00  Midnight the next day.

This will give us enough time to arrange  for the very next flight out from  Albany, NY Airpiort. (Yes, we do have a  Travel Agent, ready to book a ticket  within a few hours after we pick the  winner)

So , here’s the deal….

We are going to pick the $10,000 winner  for the BWL Affiliate contest TOMORROW,  Dec 4th, at 12:00 NOON - BUT will show  up at the winner’s door-step on the 5th,  (ie. if the winner lives in the United  States)

If the winner lives outside the US,  we’ll need a couple of days to make the  trip arrangements.

Good Luck to all in the Contest Pool!

Best regards,

P.S. Clearly, I can’t focus, and I can’t  function normally today - so I have  decided to take the rest of the day off  and have Kristin Hilton, (my Affiliate  Manager) handle this.

Phrases and Words for the Web

Let’s face it, Internet jargon emphasizes speed and up-to-the-minute currency that are not what they used to be. What I’m talking about is…

AFFECT/EFFECT: Affect is a verb. Effect is a noun. There are very specialized cases where that rule changes, but they won’t apply to you unless you’re a psychiatrist or a corporate attorney. “His decision affected us.” “The invention had an effect on our business plan.”

DATA IS/DATA ARE: Everybody who knows a smattering of Latin will argue that “data” is plural. “Datum” is the singular form. Therefore, “data are” seems correct. Well, no, not really. I guess if you’re writing a letter to the Pope in Latin, that’s the way you should do it, but if you’re writing in English, you need to be aware that we have what are called “collective nouns.” These are words like “jury,” “team,” or “sales force,” that represent a group of individuals but which almost always take a singular noun: “The jury is sequestered in the Brown Hotel.” “The team is flying to Chicago for a weekend series.” “The sales force is gathering in Orlando for training.” The word “data” is that kind of noun. Therefore, correct usage in English calls for a singular verb form: “The data is stored in a relational database.”

SERVE/SERVICE: I saw a letter in which a systems integration company promised, “Every facet of our company is oriented to servicing you, the customer.” Does that sound odd to you? I’m not sure I want to be “serviced,” although I might try it once just to see if I like it.

SIMPLE/SIMPLISTIC: The word “simple” means uncomplicated. The word “simplistic” means, essentially, “stupid.” (It really means something like oversimplifying to the point of distortion, but “stupid” is close enough.) Anyway, what kind of impression does a cover letter make when it proudly tells the customer, “We have carefully developed a simplistic solution to assure rapid deployment.”

Have we forgot how to use the language any more?
